I’m a lucky girl and live near the beach - Dana Point, San Clemente, Doheny State Beach, the Headlands and Strands.  I had only been down to Strands once and through the Orange County Register I’ve kept up with the development starting with new homes and trails.

The Local section of the paper, on January 8th, ran this story - click on it to view larger:

Orange County Register - Online Extras - www.ocregister.com/danapoint

My friend Tammy and I went and parked in the Interpretive Center’s parking lot and started walking the trail down on the Headlands and up Selva Rd to where the trail zig zags down to Strands beach.  We then walked on the trail in front of the homes being built at the bottom and many empty lots.  Re-looking at the article and map, we could have walked a lot further.  We’ll save that for another day!  Here are a few pictures I took:

THE CUTEST STORE !!!!!
First a few pictures inside …

I took a picture of this display because I want my husband to build me the actual structure ;)  to go into my Garden Shed that he’s going to build me out in the back yard!

First you go through georgeous things inside and then you get outside to the great plants, pots, antique things ….   I want to go back right now !!!!

The Garden Shed - Please build me one !  :::::

The Floor - I thought I would tile mine at home or put wood slats so I could wash it out and have a clean and easy flooring … but this one is really neat -

The Sink …. gotta have a sink ….

The roof - a great tin roof.  And … what is a tin roof without a chandelier ??

Out in the back of the Garden Shed -

I love mermaids and didn’t even notice the one on the fence …. I guess I’ll have to go back again !!

The Brickwork - very cool -

I bought a little bird … must take a picture of it ….

Here is the cute bag they put it in - with REAL flowers and leafs and a REAL orange slice ….  SO CUTE !!

So … when you’re in Cambria - go to The Garden Shed - Cambria Garden Shed

You will LOVE it !!!!

On Saturday we headed to a 50th Birthday party out in Cherry Valley. That is about 1 hour and 45 minutes from our house. I guess I punched the address into the GPS system after we had already passed the Ortega Highway, so it took us via freeways only.
But …. on the way home, I immediately punched in “Go Home” and it took us down through Perris and over the Ortega Highway.
Reasons I don’t like the Ortega -
Winding roads
Cars on your butt if you’re not going FAST
Curves = winding roads
FAST cars on your butt
;)
I grabbed my camera and took a movie … a few minutes of the windy roads ….. and Mark singing along to a CD :)

I had never been to a dump before until today.  We are throwing away our jacuzzi and Mark cut it in half with a saw.   We loaded one half on my kayak wheels and wheeled it down the side of the house.  I thought my wheels were going to POP !  We heaved it into the truck with Megan’s help.  We them drove to the dump and I got to see what other people were throwing away.  I bet we looked kind of funny with half a jacuzzi.  Things people were dumping - dirt, wood, tiles, well… just junky stuff.  When we go back to dump the other half, I will be sure to take my camera and share the complete experience.

Here is a picture of a dump:

This looked like the dump I went to.  Very organized.  They have to cover it all up at night with dirt and mulch.  The mulch and trash smelled like sour milk… yuck!  I had to hold my breath until we got up wind of it all.

The picture above came from this site:  http://science.howstuffworks.com/landfill3.htm  You can learn all about landfills and how they work.  I’ll read it later….
