I must say the Annual Avocado & Margarita Festival in Morro Bay is growing since it started 3 years ago!  We went to the first one and it was okay … but not great.  This year, the 3rd Annual, it was bigger and better!

There were a lot of Avocados and their growers in attendance with all types of avocados.

I got a cool Avocado scooper/cutter for free, magnets, this recipe book (above).

There were bands, BBQ’s, Cheerleaders selling Chips and Guacamole, tastes of local avocado cuisine,,,,,

Plus … Kettle Korn!  Served WARM and that goes good with a cold beer!

I met a really nice woman who was laid off recently from her job as a Wood Working teacher … as was her husband.  They had a nice table set up with their work -

There were a lot of booths with local craftsmen and women, some great finds!  There were even belly dancing outfits :)  ha ha

On Saturday we headed to a 50th Birthday party out in Cherry Valley. That is about 1 hour and 45 minutes from our house. I guess I punched the address into the GPS system after we had already passed the Ortega Highway, so it took us via freeways only.
But …. on the way home, I immediately punched in “Go Home” and it took us down through Perris and over the Ortega Highway.
Reasons I don’t like the Ortega -
Winding roads
Cars on your butt if you’re not going FAST
Curves = winding roads
FAST cars on your butt
;)
I grabbed my camera and took a movie … a few minutes of the windy roads ….. and Mark singing along to a CD :)

Each and every time I go to Morro Bay I visit The Garden Gallery! I just love this store with all of its plants, pots, decor for inside and out. I may not purchase every time, but I just love this store! They decorate for each holiday and they have the cutest things!!

I always start wandering on the plant side, through two rooms inside and then wander outside to see all of the succulents, bonsai trees, fountains, pots, fish sculptures…

I then cross the entry to the home side. Candles, tables, cards, decor, and so much more!!!

Here is the info -

Camping at Morro Bay is a special thing. The big trees, the birds, the marina, the town. And … the stores, which I will talk about in another post.
In this post I wanted to show you the three sites we have camped in.
The first time camping at Morro Bay we camped in site 122. This is way in the back of the campground. Here is a campground map - Click on it to enlarge.

Here is another campground map - Click on it to enlarge

Here are some pictures of campsite 122 -

It was a bit shady back there with all of the trees.  PLUS … the vultures sleep in these trees!  You should see their droppings!!  ha ha ha … They are BIG birds and we saw them down by the water -

Big trees!

The next time we camped here, we got campsite 4 - one with hook-ups.  This was nice because it was Halloween and I had bought some orange lights :) to hang on my canopy!

This is in the front row near the street and a bit shady at times.

Here is campsite 13, the most recent trip -

We go through Los Osos to the State Park off of the North 101 -  click on the map to enlarge.
Off 101 at Los Osos Valley - Make a right on South Bay Blvd. - Do a U-turn .. almost … onto State Park Rd. This will bring you around to the front and to the entrance to the park.

I will be posting more pictures and information about Morro Bay, my favorite stores, where to eat, etc….

Please let me know if you have any questions about camping here!

Lucky Corn Chips is San Clemente’s newest snack

Surfer Josh Joseph seeks a market niche with his naturally flavored Lucky Corn Chips.

This was the headline for a story in the San Clemente paper last month.  It’s a story about a San Clemente resident who had time on his hands because the construction business had slowed down, so he developed his corn chip line.  I remember the article saying that Billy’s Deli was carrying them, and I had looked a few weeks ago, but no Lucky chips.  Last weekend I went down to Billy’s to get a sandwich and they had two flavors in stock - Soy and Jalepeno.   I chose the Soy and THEY ARE SO GOOD !!!!  The bags are kind of small, but the flavor and lightness of the chips make it all worth it.  I can’t wait to see if they will sell larger sizes, if I can order them on-line or go pick them up.  These are definately a good “find”!  YUM
