These terrible fires

When Santa Ana winds and hot weather mix, there can be fires in Southern California. We watched the news on and off all day Saturday watching the developing fires along the 91 freeway, the 71 freeway, and then the 57 freeway. Today I decided, after some thought, to drive to Chino to my parent’s house to do some work. I got on the 57 north and took this picture - right before the Angel stadium. Yikes! Headed right for that plume of smoke.
I’m lucky I made it up to the 60 freeway, because they closed a section of the 57 as the fire was possibly jumping the freeway. When I went past that area, the hillside was burned and smoke was still rising from a hot area. I made it safe and sound to my parent’s house and the sky there was clear. It didn’t get smoky until mid afternoon and by that time the freeway was closed in a section, so I had to take a detour when I headed home.
My heart goes out to those who have lost their homes….
