Out to Dinner at Gordon James

If you live near San Clemente, California or are here on vacation, I would highly recommend Gordon James Grill on the corner of Del Mar and El Camino Real. Our daughter Samantha got us a gift card to the restaurant for a Mother’s Day and Father’s Day gift and we went on Saturday night. It is a large open dining room with white tablecloths topped with a white piece of paper. You have three chunky crayons on your table to doodle with. You get ice water with an antique looking glass milk jug with more water - very nice. A nice half dome loaf of warm sour dough bread arrives on a cutting board, knife and butter. Very good! Great Service right off the bat. We ordered a couple of Pale Ales on tap and then ordered an appetizer to start. We had the Lobster Cabrillo - tempura lobster with black sesame seeds, sweet lemon sauce & toasted almonds. It was okay…. kind of greasy and rich… We ordered a salad to share and it came split on two plates with chilled forks - very nice. Simple salad of ice berg, tomotoes, red onion and cucumber. I felt like comfort food, so ordered the Roasted Pork Loin and my husband ordered the special Bone-In Rib Eye steak. Both were great. We saw a lot of people getting the Mississippi Catfish - a whole catfish fried… might have to try that one next time. We ordered an after-dinner coffee and the entire dining experience was great - no complaints! We will definately go there again.
