Camping - Refugio State Beach

2008
We’re going camping this weekend at Refugio State Beach!!! I’m getting excited as it is one of my favorite state parks to camp in. This year we even snagged a front row spot. Two years ago we upgraded from tent camping to pop-up camping and I feel like a Queen! I have a stove, fridge, toilet, shower, two beds, table, heater …. It’s great! We take our kayaks (we kayak fish), ride bikes and just kick back. I plan on taking lots of magazines, cross word puzzles and my camping book. I started a camping book when we got the camper. It is a sketch book, but you could also use any scrap book. Each time we go camping, I write it in the book. I add sketches, pictures I have taken, maybe a leaf, feather, etc… It is really fun to look back and read about our camping trips.
We live by our camping list. We’ve been camping for over 20 years and have our food/drinks/supplies down to a science. We make bacon, eggs, refried beans, onions, salsa and tortillas for breakfast. There is nothing like cooking bacon when you’re camping. I love a Mimosa too :) We recently started taking the packaged Maui Short Ribs from Trader Joes. Very convenient, already marinated, airtight package, and really good. We go down our list and cross things off or add if necessary to get our menu. Here is our list if you’re interested:
