Calzone – A baked or fried Italian turnover of pizza dough filled with vegetables, meat, or cheese
I just received my new issue of Better Homes and Gardens –
And I saw this recipe –
This looked good … but I had another idea in mind. I love BBQ Chicken pizza with BBQ Sauce, Red Onions, cheese, BBQ Chicken (of course) and some cilantro… so I changed this recipe into my own –
First I started BBQing a couple of Chicken Breasts and got my red onions on the stove to saute. (I use a little bit of butter to saute my onions- not shown in this picture)
Next chop your cilantro and tomatoes –
Use your favorite BBQ Sauce. My favorite is Sweet Baby Rays.
Have a cookie sheet with some parchment paper ready to go as well.
The shredded chicken and sauteed onions are ready to go!
On a separate cutting board, I put down a little bit of flour to make sure the pizza dough didn’t stick.
I used the Pillsbury Artisan Pizza Crust – (You can find this in the bisquit / cheese area of your market)
I spread the dough out a bit. The recipe said 4×6″ pieces.
I spread some BBQ Sauce and layered my ingredients.
I then pinched the two sides together –
Kinda Skinny :-/
My third one was fatter ..
Baked at 375 for about 20 minutes. I then spread some BBQ sauce over the top and added some fresh tomatoes for the last five minutes.
The only thing I would do different is to add more cheese, otherwise, very tasty!
